Fantasy Fighter

Twin-boom pusher against Northrop Flying Wing
Actually, this fantasy is not too far from reality - Swedish SAAB 21 had the same configuration.
The pusher is Mansyu Ki-98 attacker (never built).

  1. Oh would you look at that, it's The Sky Crawlers.

  2. I'm embarassed to say that of all Sky Crawlers' pushers I can't remember anything like that.

  3. Well, they're not the *exact* same planes. But advanced contra-rotating pusher fighters and massive flying wing bombers? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=llqoqei-k1Y

  4. The Fantasy Fighter reminds me very much of the playable "Pulse Jet Prototype" in the old PS2 game Sky Odyssey - http://origin-images.rcuniverse.com/forum/upfiles/463528/Us54008.jpg - and the German Focke-Wulf Flitzer design: http://www.luft46.com/fw/fwflitz.html

Some of the pushers in that Sky Crawlers clip are obviously modelled after the Kyushu J7W - http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/8e/J7w.png.

The Sky Crawlers looks really good, by the way. Would you gentlemen recommend it?

  5. I second Bruce's sentiment. It definitely looks like the Pulse Jet.

An interesting if somewhat bizarre blog. I like it :D

  7. A different kind of beast, but beautiful. It's a long time since we've first met...

  8. @Bruce: I'd highly recommend Sky Crawlers, but make sure you know what you're getting into.

  9. In my mind probably the coolest twin boom aircraft of all time has got to be the Kalinin K7, and it's even got a pusher http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6C_8GGhY6kA

  10. To Warren:
In my personal Hall of Fame there are two ever-coolest twin-boomers:
    a) Lockheed P-38 Lightning;
    b) Caproni Ca.3 pusher-puller

  11. To Jeremy:
if you ask me, I love the good old Vampire (and Venom too). But Lightning is simply superb. And no, I've got no sympathy for "Uhu".

  12. All very good, chaps, but what about the Savoia-Marchetti S.55?

  13. To Bruce:
It's more than just an aircraft. It's a modern Columbus' ship. It's Balbo!

  14. Another god one is the Northrop Black Widow. Or how about the McDonnell XV-1 Convertiplane.

  15. Not forgetting the Northrop F-15 Reporter (a development of the Black Widow) and the ill-fated Hughes XF-11.

  16. ...brb, playing Secret Weapons over Normandy again.

  17. Dear Lord_k, your guests simply shocked by the beautiful picture and happily recall other beautiful aircraft. Why?
