Locomotives in "A" Shop, GWR Swindon Works
24th February 1935
From the collection of Mr T. Midwinter

In 1935, the Great Western Railway 6014 King Henry VII (at left) and the Manorbier Castle (right) received a very similar treatment - an aerodynamic "nose bullet".

  1. Someone once suggested to me that a little Plasticene would easily turn a normal GWR model locomotive into a streamlined one! Maybe so, but it is more than the smokebox front: there is much streamlining of other surfaces, too, but not as noticeable as the bullet-point at the front!

  2. Seems abandoned, It's a pity, I can see the luxury of the restaurant wagon, the elegant people, traveling trunks, vintage cars, and the smell and sounds like stationmaster's whistle. This world does not have that charm.
